An idea gift for a sailor, or anyone who loves the sea,

I created this key ring from a monkey fist knot and an eye splice in poly hemp rope. I named it after a beautifully quiet corner of Cornwall.

The monkey fist used to be weighted with lead, and used by crews in the age of sail to enable a line to be thrown further and more accurately. My knot is not weighted, I use a wooden ball as the centre. The eye splice is a neat and strong way to form a permanent loop in rope.

Care Instructions

The rope is hardwearing rot resistant marine poly hemp, and it is easy to care for. Just handwash, and leave to dry naturally. Please do not machine wash or tumble dry. More details about poly hemp are in our blog.
